The helmets of the American brand JBL are renowned for having a good quality/price ratio. However, they are not immune to any malfunction: headset that no longer works, Bluetooth pairing problem, refusal to turn on or off, etc. In any case, solutions can sometimes resolve the failure you are experiencing. This is what we will see in this article by answering the question: how to repair problems on a JBL 500 BT headset?

Common problems with JBL 500 BT headphones

The JBL 500 BT headphones only work on one side

The first problem commonly identified with JBL 500 BT headphones is thatit only works with one headset. This problem can appear without any real explanation (without impact, fall or oxidation). If the problem appears after one of the previously stated factors, there is a good chance that the headset is damaged and therefore your headset suffers a hardware failure that can simply be repaired by a professional. However, if the problem occurs without apparent causes, then it can be a bad contact or software bug.

First try to solve the problem of a potential bad contact. To do this, plug your JBL 500 BT headphones into a device (smartphone, computer, tablet, etc.), turn on the sound and turn up the volume to maximum with the + button. Then turn down the volume with the – button and check if the JBL headset ear works again. If not, turn the volume all the way down and turn it up. If nothing helps, then try twisting the wired headset cable one way and then the other.

In case that doesn't work and your JBL 500 BT headphones still only work on one side, go to the part “Reset JBL 500 BT headphones” from the second part of our article.

And if it still doesn't work, read our general article about it: Helmet that only works on one side, what to do.

JBL 500 BT headset does not connect to Bluetooth

The JBL 500 BT headphones may also have a Bluetooth problem. In this case, carry out some checks:

1 – Check that Bluetooth is activated in the settings of your support device (smartphone, PC, tablet). If you are on a PC, make sure your headset is also enabled and set as the output device by doing the following:

  1. In the Windows taskbar, right click on the sound symbol at the bottom right and click Conclusion or click simultaneously on the keys Windows+R, then enter mmsys.cpl And click OK
  2. In the window that opens, go to Litterature
  3. Right click on the name of your headset and select Enable
  4. Then right click on your headphones and select Set as default device

2 – Check that your JBL 500 BT headphones are only connected to one device. Indeed, if other nearby devices have already been paired to your headphones, it is possible that one of them automatically connects to the headphones and this causes a loss of connection on your current device. In this case, remove the headset from the pairing list of your other nearby devices not used by the headset (phone, tablet, PC, etc.).

3 – Check that your headphones are close to the device to which it is connected (less than 1m).
